How to make a practice test with AI from your lectures or notes
Rereading and highlighting feel like studying, but what really makes things stick is forcing yourself to recall them: answering questions without looking. The catch is that writing good practice tests takes time. AI can do it for you from what was actually taught in class.
Why practice tests work
Learning scientists call it retrieval practice or active recall: every time you try to remember something, you strengthen it. A practice test also shows you what you don't know before the real exam does.
It works even better when you space the tests out: today, in two days and next week, focusing on the questions you missed.
How to generate a practice test with SwiftBOL
Upload or record the lecture in Student mode. When it's ready, open “Create with AI” and choose “Practice test”. The AI writes multiple-choice questions based on what was explained in that lecture, with the correct answer and the minute in the audio where each topic came up.
You answer on the site or on your phone, see your score at the end and can review only the ones you missed. Want another round? Generate a new quiz with different questions.
Tips to get the most out of it
Take the quiz the same day as the lecture, even if you score badly — that's part of the process. Retake it a few days later without looking at your notes first. When you miss a question, tap its timestamp and listen to the instructor's original explanation: it's the fastest way to clear up the doubt.
If you study in a group, share the session link: classmates can take the same quiz without signing up and compare results.
Does it work for any course?
Yes: it works with any recorded explanation — a college lecture, a test-prep class, an online course or a recording of yourself explaining a topic out loud. Explaining the material aloud, recording it and letting AI quiz you is also a very effective study technique on its own.
Try it with your own audio
